How to play FTG Sports: Baseball

Start a free multi-season baseball franchise in under two minutes. Sign up, draft, set your lineup, and advance the season.

FTG Sports: Baseball is a browser-based baseball GM sim. You own a franchise, run the front office, and watch the season play out. No install, no cost, no ads. Here is the full path from sign-up to your first pennant.

1Sign up (or start as a guest)

Open the home page and either create an account with an email and password, or hit "try as guest" to spin up a throwaway league in a browser tab. Guest mode carries no signup penalty; you can convert to a real account later without losing your league.

2Create or join a league

From the leagues screen, spin up a new league (you become commissioner) or paste an invite link a friend sent. A single league holds 30 teams; the seats you do not fill are run by AI general managers with their own budgets, philosophies, and player preferences.

3Get a roster

A new league seeds every team from a real historical player pool by default (public-domain Lahman data, career-derived rate profiles, procedurally generated faces, fictional franchise names). If you want a specific setup, the public edition also accepts a custom-roster JSON URL at creation time.

4Set your rotation and lineup

Open your team page. Drag your starting rotation into order, set the bullpen hierarchy, and pick a lineup philosophy (traditional, sabermetric, or balanced). Every knob is opt-in; leaving the defaults gives you a sensible auto-lineup that follows real handedness and platoon logic.

5Advance the season

Games are simulated day by day. On a manual-pace league you click Advance whenever you want; on a scheduled-pace league the sim runs itself on a cadence the commissioner picked (usually one real day per in-game day). Box scores and news update as games finish.

6Work the roster

During the season you can trade with other teams, sign free agents, call up prospects from your 30-man minors, place injured players on the IL, and adjust your depth chart. The trade shop shows fair-value counteroffers so you can gauge whether a deal is realistic before you send it.

7Win the pennant. Then keep going.

The regular season leads into playoffs, a champion, awards, and a Hall of Fame vote. Then it rolls into the offseason: free agency, extensions, arbitration, a rookie draft. Players age, develop, decline, and eventually retire. The franchise is yours to run for as many seasons as you want.

You can play the first season on the defaults. The AI GMs handle the other clubs while you learn the lineup, rotation, roster, and trade screens.
